Happy Louis Riel Day, taanshi (“How are you” in Michif)!

February 18, 2022

This school year, the Indigenous Way of Life Team worked with Library Services and the Fine Arts department to create and distribute a series of Bulletin Board Kits surrounding Indigenous events for use in our schools. The most recent kit contains resources and materials that highlight and celebrate Métis culture, including Louis Riel's vision to embrace all nations.

A statutory holiday in Manitoba since 2008, Louis Riel Day falls on the third Monday each February. This is a day to celebrate the culture, language and innovations of the Métis people as well as the contributions of Louis Riel in the formation of Manitoba.
