Cold Lake School gets creative to stay protected and active

November 10, 2020

Part of the re-entry plan for Cold Lake School is to provide a safe learning environment for everyone. This is a very important challenge that needed to be addressed in a smart and strategic way.

To start, students were divided into PODS (cohorts) according to families. The school has a total of 6 PODS named after colours: Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Red and Orange.

Individual students or family pairs were provided with sports equipment bags. Each bag has equipment for their use only, or to share in their POD. The bags include a ton of equipment for active fun and games, including: a basketball, soccer ball, volleyball, frisbee, hula hoops, skipping rope, scooter, sidewalk chalk, badminton racquet, baseball bat, softball, and ball glove!

To make it even better for students, the equipment in the bags will change with the seasons and PE units.

This has resulted in ensuring strict safety measures can be followed while successfully providing increased outdoor physical activity for students. Fantastic work, Cold Lake!
