Frontier School Division is pleased to announce Daisy Monias as recipient of The Aboriginal Circle of Educators (ACE) award for Language Education. The ACE Award honours educators and leaders who promote and support Aboriginal perspectives in the classroom and in the community.
Daisy is of Cree heritage, born and raised in Norway House and is a fluent Cree speaker. Daisy’s career has included teaching in Norway House (Jack River and former Rossville School) and was previously the Principal at Jack River School. She is currently the Area 5 Superintendent (Norway House). She is a proponent and advocate of Indigenous language and culture, and has planned and cultivated many activities in her schools and community supporting the Division’s focus goal for Indigenous Way of Life. Daisy received this award at the “Honouring our Traditions, Celebrating Our Future” awards banquet held in Winnipeg on February 15, 2019. Congratulations Daisy!
