PENT Graduation Celebration – Honouring Future Educators
On Friday, July 18th, a celebration dinner was held at the Victoria Inn in Brandon to honour the 2025 PENT Indigenous Teacher Education graduating students. Congratulations are extended to the Frontier graduates:
- Cydney Bjerke – Cranberry Portage Elementary
- Angela Christian – San Antonio School
- Krystle Turner – HBOIERC
- Tammy Turner – Wanipigow School
In recognition of their dedication and perseverance, these individuals will be awarded their teaching degrees by Brandon University this October.
The evening featured an address to the graduates from the Honourable Renée Cable, Minister of Advanced Education and Training, who acknowledged the graduates' hard work and commitment in reaching their journey of becoming a teacher. Angela Christian took the stage to speak on behalf of her class, reflecting on their shared journey. Graduating students were congratulated and addressed in presentations by PENT staff, John Minshull, and Bernice Galvin, and Knowledge Keeper, Barbara Blind.
On behalf of the division, congratulations were shared with the graduates, and each was presented with a gift in recognition of their accomplishment.
Two Frontier students were also honoured during the evening for their academic excellence:
- Graduate with the Highest GPA: Cydney Bjerke, Cranberry Portage Elementary
- Highest GPA after 90 Credit Hours: Jayleen Flett, Wanipigow School
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the graduates and look forward to welcoming them into classrooms across the division this September. Their resilience, determination, and passion for education are commendable.
