Frontier School Division Receives Grant to Advance Land-Based Learning Spaces in Norway House

Frontier School Division is honoured to announce the receiving of a grant by the Northern Manitoba Food, Culture & Community Collaborative (NMFCCC) for the Awasisak ka is kapēsichik project in Norway House.

This funding will further strengthen the goals of the community to connect students with cultural teachings through Land-Based education and working alongside local Elders and Knowledge Keepers.

Awasisak ka i s kapēsichik centers daily programming rooted in traditional Indigenous knowledge, engaging students in seasonal activities such as fishing, trapping, medicine harvesting, and cultural storytelling.

The grant will fund essential upgrades to the program’s facilities, enhancing safety and comfort to support year-round programming.

The NMFCCC grant recognizes the impact of this work and will help ensure that students can continue to access hands-on learning experiences.
