Frontier School Division represents at the Manitoba Envirothon

Three teams from Frontier School Division represented their communities at the regional events for the Manitoba Envirothon. Teams travelled from Wanipigow, Norway House and Gillam for the regional event in Winnipeg.

The Manitoba Envirothon is a high school competition that focuses on land-based science and hands-on experiential learning. Students become experts in Wildlife, Aquatics, Plants & Forestry, and Soils & Geology. The theme for the 2024 event is Integrated Watershed Management.

Teams compete in both a field test where they attend stations to complete tasks and challenges, and an oral competition where they present a solution to an environmental scenario in front of a panel of judges.

Teams must first participate at a regional event, and then qualify for the provincial Envirothon event. The provincial Manitoba Envirothon event will be held at the International Peace Gardens at the end of May.

Our FSD Science department is very proud to announce that all three of our FSD teams have qualified to attend the provincial Manitoba Envirothon! Way to go Wanipigow, HBOIERC, and Gillam!

Thank you to Calm Air for sponsoring the flights for our Gillam team.
